FAQs

Yes! Everything is skillfully crafted in our London workshop and Hannah's home studio in St Leonards-on-Sea.

Each piece starts life as a hand-sculpted wax model before being cast into recycled metal using the ancient process of lost wax casting.

We aim to restock our collection as quickly as possible. You can sign up to a back in stock alert on the product page too.

Unfortunately, we don't accept pre-orders for our jewellery.

Unfortunately, this is not a service we offer at this time.

Each piece is made from recycled silver with most styles also available with 24k gold vermeil plating.

All earrings, pendants and chains are gold plated at 3 microns thick.

All rings are plated at 4 microns thick as they will receive more wear and tear.

With regular and considerate wear, the gold plating on our jewellery should last 3-5 years before you may need to get them re-plated.

Not to worry, we do offer a single earring replacement service. Please send an email along with a photo of your remaining earring to hello@hannahm.com and we can advise.

All our hoop and necklace charms are easily interchangeable. "No Hoops" or "No Chain" on a product page means you can purchase the charms without the hoops or chain - we will send the charms only.

This is perfect if you already own a pair of our hoops or chain and would just like to buy the additional charms or pendant.

We operate a closed studio and can not accomodate visits from the public.

Jewellery Care

Storage

Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

We recommend storing and transporting your jewellery in the pouch or box provided, to avoid tangled chains, bent earring posts or pieces knocking against each other.

Hoop earrings with charms are best stored with the hoop and charms unassembled.

Wear

Remove jewellery before sleeping, showering, or exercising.

We use recycled sterling silver.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place. Use the HM pouch or box provided to avoid tangled chains, bent earring posts or pieces knocking against each other.

Wear: Remove before sleeping, showering or exercising.

Cleaning: Clean with warm, soapy water or a silver polishing cloth.

Silver will slowly tarnish over time. This is accelerated by exposure to water, perspiration, pollution and chemicals. This can easily be removed using a silver polishing cloth.

Sensitivity: If you don’t have a known allergy to silver, our sterling silver should not be irritating to your skin.

Gold vermeil plating: This is a durable layer of gold applied to silver using an electrochemical plating process. Our high-quality 24k gold vermeil plating is 3 microns thick on earrings, pendants, and chains, and 4 microns on rings.

Longevity: All gold plating will eventually wear down over time. The speed in which this happens is dependent on the amount of wear and how well it is looked after.

With regular and considerate wear, our high quality gold plating should last several years before re-plating is necessary. With only occasional wear, plating will last much longer.

Care tips:

To make sure your gold plated jewellery lasts as long as possible, follow these guidelines:

  • Take jewellery off when sleeping, exercising and any time it could get wet.
  • Clean it after wear with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
  • Use the HM pouch or box provided to avoid tangled chains, bent earring posts or pieces knocking against each other.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals such as creams, lotions and perfume.

Cleaning: Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly.

Use a polishing cloth for gold plated items.

Sensitivity: Our gold plated pieces are made from sterling silver underneath the plating. If you are allergic to gold or silver we recommend you avoid any jewellery containing it.

Re-plating: We offer a re-plating service for HANNAH M items. Please email hello@hannahm.com to arrange.

We use 14k gold filled metal for a selection of our hoops and necklace chains.

Gold Filled: This is made from a jeweller’s brass core with a thick outer layer of 14 karat gold, that is 5% or more of the total weight of metal. The solid gold layer is mechanically bonded to the brass using heat and pressure.

Gold filled jewellery is a high quality but affordable alternative to solid gold, and has a 5-10x thicker layer of gold than gold-plated metal.

Longevity: Gold filled jewellery is very durable and will not easily tarnish or discolour for a very long time. It can last 10+ years in perfect condition with daily wear.

Wear: Remove before sleeping, showering or exercising.

Cleaning: Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth.

Sensitivity: If you are very allergic to copper or brass we recommend you avoid any jewellery containing it. If you only have mild sensitivity, gold-filled jewellery should not irritate your skin due to the thick layer of gold.
